Suspended Ceilings

A suspended ceiling, sometimes known as a dropped ceiling, as its name suggests is a secondary ceiling structure installed below the main ceiling in a room or building. They are typically used in commercial buildings or offices.

Suspended ceilings add style to the existing space but there are other crucial benefits that they can bring to your business.

Fireproof materials to protect your staff

As well as improving the visual appearance of your workspace, suspended ceilings also offer protection from fire, to comply with building regulations.  Using fireproof materials protects anyone working on the floor above. A standard laying grid can achieve a 60 minute fire rating when installed correctly.

Because suspended ceilings create space between the main ceiling structure, this can be fitted with other fire-resistant materials to minimise the spread of the fire and allow you to evacuate your premises.

Creating a tidy and professional appearance

Pipes and cables strewn across the ceiling are unsightly and create a poor impression for anyone visiting your business. A suspended ceiling lets you hide these from general view, but still keep them accessible should something need repairing.

Ceiling panels can be easily removed and replaced, ensuring that the repairs can be carried out with as little disruption as possible to your business. They are also less expensive to install than having to completely remove and then repair the main ceiling structure.

Enhancing workplace productivity

Suspended ceilings make for great sound insulators. By choosing the right materials, you can reduce the amount of noise let in from other areas of the building or from the outside environment, meaning that your team can focus on their work.

Similarly, because suspended ceilings can be installed using light reflective materials, you can maximise the natural light in your offices which can have a positive affect on the wellbeing of your employees. And when the mornings are darker, you can easily install additional lighting in the ceiling panels.

Choose the style that suits your business

Suspended ceilings come in a variety of styles, like the ones below:

  • Lay-in ceilings
  • Acoustic ceilings
  • Metal ceilings
  • Performance ceilings
  • Feature ceilings
  • Hygienic ceilings
  • Specialist ceilings

These can all be tailored according to the dimensions of your building and your requirements, whether you’re just looking to enhance the visual appeal of your office interiors or in need of a more specialist solution.
